COTTAGE GARDEN
This residence in Saugerties NY built in the early 1800s, was once farmland and now has grown into a black walnut grove. The terraced bluestone patio and entry garden had become overgrown with aggressive species, but was dotted with hidden remnants of the once ornamental garden. This garden is an on-going negotiation between what was originally planted, what moved in since it was abandoned, and a slowly re-populating it with native species.
